postcard from Kuwait

Written by manu on . Posted in fashion & style

Hello from Kuwait!

I can’t begin to tell you how much fun yesterday was. Well, ever since I got here has been loads of fun, really. Catching up with old college friends, feasting on delicious Middle Eastern food, wandering the aisles of random Kuwaiti supermarkets, meeting great new people and of course, working on the Lookbook.

As I anticipated on my last post, I’m currently in Kuwait to shoot the ClosetCandy Fall/Winter Lookbook. We spent all of Sunday shooting and I’m super anxious to begin posting some of the behind-the-scenes snaps we took throughout the day, which I will be doing very soon, so be sure to stay tuned!!!

The Photoshoot Day #1

Written by manu on . Posted in fashion & style

I’m back as promised!

After two days of wonderful feasting on exquisite homemade Kuwaiti food– alf marra shukran or a thousand times thank you to Dana’s parents for their wonderful hospitality– we’re finally on location here in Beirut where we’ve just completed Day #1 of Closet Candy’s Spring/Summer Lookbook photoshoot just in time before the downpour.

I must say I had a blast! The location was amazing, you would never believe where we were and the beautiful shots the photographer was able to capture…and the clothes…oh the clothes! I can’t wait to show you guys the finished product!

Here is a little sneak peek for you!

The adventure begins in just a few hours!

I’ve been invited to model for Closet Candy’s new Spring/Summer Lookbook! Woot Woot!

The journey begins this weekend when I’ll be traveling first to Kuwait where we’ll be doing all the fittings and final tweaks to all the looks, then Monday we all fly to Lebanon to pick out our shooting location.

I can’t begin to explain how psyched I am to be doing this shoot, plus I’ll have the opportunity to meet all the cool girls behind the trendiest boutique in Kuwait City- apart from the wonderful Ms. Dana K. Alnuaimi, Closet Candy’s owner, whom I’ve known for years and years now.

I’m super curious to see what fits they’ve picked out for the shoot, but knowing their impeccably fabulous taste in everything, I’m sure it’ll be beyond cool!

I’ve actually written about Closet Candy in more than a few posts, (here and here) they carry the coolest and most sought-after labels that celebrities and models of the likes of Kim Kardashian, Jessica Alba, Sienna Miller, Beyonce and Kate Moss are all rocking.

Be sure to check out their online shop www.shopclosetcandy.com for popular designer brands like House of Harlow 1960, Torn by Ronny Kobo, KAIN Label, Siwy, J Brand, Current/Elliott, Camilla and Marc, Myne, MinkPink, Charlotte Ronson and LNA… total hotness!

Anyways, stay tuned cause I’ll have more juice for you coming up next week!

…and wish me luck!!!

Some weekend tunes for you………

Current/Elliott SS Collection 2011

Written by manu on . Posted in fashion & style

The Perfect Shirt, The Smart Trouser, The Boyfriend Jeans…these are the names Current/Elliott attributes to some of its fabulous denim pieces.

I’m an associate fashion buyer for a Kuwaiti-based boutique called Closet Candy whose tagline goes something like ’style never looked so sweet’. Couldn’t agree more :) It’s a fabulous hub to the trendiest, most desirable fashion pieces from hot designer brands like LNA, House of Harlow, Charlotte Ronson, Siwy…well, you get the idea!

These are some of my favorite pieces from the Current/Elliott SS 2011 Collection, some of which I also chose for Closet Candy.

The Perfect Shirt in a sandy shade and a light, gauze-like cotton fabric.

Captain Trouser Hardware in a light beige and dark bluish shade. Adorned with golden studs along the side seams all the way from top to bottom.

The Co-Ed Blazer. Washed pinstriped blazer in a very light, soft cotton. Looks great with The Roller and Captain Trousers.

The Roller in light, pastel shades. Very soft, vintage-loking jean fabric.

The collection overall had a lot of pieces featuring these particular pastel tones, whether for jeans, t-shirts or shorts.

The Roller Destroy. One of my personal favorites. The color caught my attention, the shade is opal black, an intense blue/dark petroleum color. Luuuuv!

I also loved all these sailor-themed pieces in the marine blue and bright red.

Did you notice the grey and black boyfriend shorts adorned with ah-mazing rusted bronze studs?!

Will definitely need to get my hands on a pair of these!
