A touch of mediterranean

I love Greek food! The it place right now for the Munich crowd is Kytaro. You must not miss it if you’re planning to visit this modern-cosmopolitan dream city.

I must say the focus is way beyond just the food. There’s a bouncer at the door…hmm a restaurant with a bouncer at the door.

I was kinda surprised so curious me started mingling with the intimidating-ly-handsome-german-greek-bouncer…I was told the place starts to get lively around 11pm. I wasn’t sure whether that included the traditional plate smashing routine, at first glance I wasn’t sure the place could stand up to much abuse!

But I just had to see it to believe it. Some hours later…no plates. no smashing. Their modus-operandi was to toss huge packs of ordinary paper napkins to us customers which in turn desperately ripped these apart and within less than 1 second, and to the cool beat of Duck Sauce’s ‘Barbra Streisand’ – the entire floor, table tops, people’s heads, waiter’s aprons, champagne glasses, purses, shoes…were layered with paper napkins to the point where you could no longer tell where your table or Exit door were located.

Just go see it for yourselves! Oh, and ask for Thymio!

Cavos

Written by manu on . Posted in Munich, travel book

This trip to Munich was all about Greek cuisine and because I couldn’t go back to Kytaro for the second time in a row, (much to my disappointment), I headed over to Cavos, which was recommended to me by a hot stud which kept me company while they cleared my table.

The Cavos scene was quite similar to that of Kytaro’s, hip crowd, people dancing on the tables while the waiters throw around napkins to pump people up (this is all post-dinner of course). Music switches between Greek beats to some of the latest more commercial hits turning the place into an exclusive club. Must-go-to-place on Fridays and Saturdays, call and reserve in advance!

I want my Tolix

Written by manu on . Posted in Munich, travel book

I’m obsessed with Tolix chairs, especially the retro ones. Oh, vive la France et merci M. Pauchard!

In Munich, I stumbled upon a really cool antique shop with an amazing assortment of Tolix retro chairs, in every color possible.

But the Tolix chairs weren’t the only items that caught my eye, everything in that shop was desirable! The shop window itself was so perfect that you could just pick it up with one of those car cranes used in auto graveyards and drop it off at your home.

Check it out if you get a chance, here are the store details:

(Sorry for the crumpled up paper, I had it in my purse and got squished by everything in it)
